The water ring vacuum pump can transport both gas and liquid. It's just less efficient when pumping liquids. When transporting gas, it can also be used as a low-pressure compressor, and its discharge pressure is about 0.1-0.2 MPa. Its exhaust volume range is between 0.25-30m³/min. The vacuum degree can reach 70-80%, and when the manufacturing is excellent, the vacuum degree can reach 99.5%.
When the pumped gas should not be in contact with water, the pump can be filled with oil or other liquid medium (it is often called liquid ring pump). If oil is used as the working medium, the vacuum degree can reach 99.98% in one stage and 99.999% in two stages.
The biggest advantage of the water ring vacuum pump is that it can pump gas containing liquid. In the use of vacuum systems, there are many cases where the inhalation contains a cloud-like liquid. Even if it contains swallow steam, it must be liquefied during the compression process, and it is not suitable to use a general reciprocating pump for such suction. Because the liquid is enclosed between the piston and the cylinder head, the valve and other passages become too narrow due to the presence of the liquid. The gas resistance increases, which causes power loss. The water ring vacuum pump originally uses liquid as the piston, so it is completely okay to contain liquid in the suction.
This type of pump is in addition to the above. There are also the following advantages
(1) Except for bearings and sealing glands. There are no mechanical contact parts such as valves and pistons that other air systems have, so internal lubrication is not required. The utility model has the advantages of simple structure, easy manufacture and maintenance, reliable operation and long machine life.
(2) Due to the high speed, the pump can be directly connected to the motor, so the exhaust is continuous and uniform. ·For a certain discharge, its shape is small, compact and occupies less floor space.
(3) Since the liquid is circulated internally during operation, it can avoid the leakage of gas and the heat caused by compression, so it is also suitable for exhausting toxic or explosive gases. Not only can the group, acetylene and biogas be pressurized, but also for the gas that is very difficult to be pressurized by the reciprocating pump, as long as the concentrated sulfuric acid is used instead of water, there is no problem.
Because of the many advantages of water ring vacuum pump, it is widely used in petroleum and chemical production. The disadvantage is that the efficiency of this pump is very low. It is about 0.3-0.5.
